About the Event
In 2021, data centers consumed 6% of the world’s energy supply. By 2025, it will likely be 20%. As CPU speeds increase, so does power consumption. In this talk, Eric Collins, Sr. Solutions Architect at Submer will give an overview of the different approaches for cooling data centers in the near future as well as a bit further out. Also, the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches.
About the Speaker
Eric Collins, Ph.D.
Senior Solution Architect at Submer
Eric Collins is the Sr. Solution Architect for Submer, a leader in the immersion cooling sector. A thought leader with over 30 years’ experience in the IT industry, in roles from support to professional services to management and working for early-stage start-ups.
While at IBM, Eric was part of a small team that built IBM’s high-performance computing (HPC) business in the energy sector. Eric then left IBM and was the CTO for a business partner specializing in large enterprise and technical computing. He is frequently sought as a speaker at technical conferences including Offshore Technology Conference, user groups and the annual SuperComputing Conference.
