Webinar: The Real Requirements for a "Storage Cloud"
The next SHPCP webinar will cover the following:
Topic: The Real Requirements for a "Storage Cloud"
Abstract: As storage infrastructures supporting different workloads diverge, costs and complexity are rapidly rising. Organizations are often forced to deploy different storage technologies and architectures from multiple vendors to support diverse needs for areas such as High Performance Computing, visualization, digital oil field, e-mail, home directories, virtualization, eDiscovery, business intelligence, and ERP, etc. As a result, isolated technology "islands" are created, blocking the efficient use of investments across workloads. One of the fundamental promises of cloud storage is the ability to pool resources and seamlessly allocate them where best needed across the organization at any point in timeundefinedwhich is impossible without a unified view. To make this happen, there are several important elements to consider, including key technology requirements, operational control and flexibility, transparency, and ease of use, as well as how to ensure an optimized financial return. This presentation will discuss the key requirements of a unified storage fabric that can deliver on the promises of cloud storage in data-intensive environments, such as those present in large global companies in the oil and gas industry.
