Abstract: "The Stillwater OpenKL virtual machine provides an abstraction for knowledge processing that decouples the application from the underlying hardware platform, thus creating an accelerated software stack for optimized analytics systems in much the same way that OpenGL created such a software stack for graphics. The Stillwater Knowledge Processor Unit (KPU) is a distributed data flow processor that, in contrast to a CPU or GPU, has no instruction streams. It directly executes data dependencies to solve elegantly the challenge of harnessing fine-grained parallelism that defines knowledge generation applications. OpenKL plus the KPU will enable a new level of capability for "green" intelligent systems, providing the flexibility to decouple innovations in application architecture from advances in hardware acceleration and electrical power consumption."
