SHPCP Board Member Melyssa Fratkin delivered the keynote address at the annual Computing Insight UK 2023 in Manchester, UK on December 7, 2023. The theme of her presentation is “Women in Advanced Computing: Leveling the Playing Field.”

SHPCP President and VP Lead Panels at Annual Image Conference
SHPCP was again helping lead important discussions in the Digitalization Pavilion at the annual SEG/AAPG Image conference in Houston, TX.
SHPCP President Doug Norton led a panel on Gen AI in the energy industry. He was joined by senior executives and technologists from NVIDIA, SambaNova Systems, Ovation Data, and Cognitive GeoInterpretation.
SHPCP Vice President Kannan led a panel titled “Is the “On-Prem vs. Public Cloud” debate still relevant when AI is growing so rapidly?” He was joined by senior executives and technologists from AWS, Imaged Reality, NVIDIA, Ovation Data, and SLB.

Implementing error correction and mitigation are perhaps the chief goals today for the quantum computing community. IBM has a new Nature paper (Encoding a magic state with beyond break-even fidelity) demonstrating the use of dynamic circuits to better implement magic state distillation.
